Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox
The Pick: Twins run line -1.5 -108
Another day, another run line bet against the Chicago White Sox. Despite constantly being underdogs, the White Sox are still just 13-16 on the run line this season. When this offense is averaging less than three runs a game and the opponent is averaging 5.4, you’re not going to be a run line winner. So, we’re rolling with the Twins tonight, who have won eight games in a row. They have a great matchup against Mike Soroka, who has been getting torched on the mound. He’s allowed at least four runs in four of the six starts he’s made and hasn’t pitched more than five innings in five games.
He did face the Twins his last time out but only allowed two solo home runs. However, the stats in that game indicate it could have been much worse. I’m not banking on Soroka getting lucky two starts in a row. Soroka has moved to using his sinker as his primary pitch, throwing it 32% of the time. Opposing hitters are batting .275 against it with an xBA of .360. Between Soroka and a poor White Sox bullpen, I would expect the Twins to win this game by at least two runs.
Cleveland Guardians at Houston Astros
The Pick: Cleveland Guardians moneyline +140
I was really surprised to see the Guardians as a +140 underdog against the Astros and Hunter Brown. It’s been a disaster 2024 for Brown, who comes into tonight with a 9.68 ERA an xERA of 6.17, an 8.6 K/9 and a 6.1 BB/9. One could say that Brown has looked “ok” in his past two starts against the Nationals and Braves, where he allowed five runs on nine hits with five walks and nine strikeouts. However, he hasn’t started a game since the 21st, as the Astros skipped what would have been a start in New Mexico. Now, he’ll deal with a Guardians offense that is averaging 5.1 runs per game, which is the fifth highest in the league. When Brown is out of this game, he’ll be handing the ball over to an Astros bullpen that has also had it’s fair share of struggles. They enter today with a combined 4.95 ERA. I like the Guardians in this spot as an underdog against a pitcher who has been struggling.

Colorado Rockies at Miami Marlins
The Pick: Ryan McMahon over 1.5 H/R/RBI -115
Two dreadful teams facing each other tonight, as the Rockies head to Miami to face the Marlins. I don’t have much interest in this game but I do want to try and take advantage of the early struggles for Sixto Sanchez against lefties. Once regarded as one of their top prospects, Sanchez has dealt with a plethora of injuries, regulating him to just 49 innings since 2020. He’s fully healthy now but he hasn’t looked good in limited action. Lefties have tagged him for four runs on seven hits, giving him a .526 wOBA. McMahon has been one of the most consistent power bats for the Rockies, so grabbing him at 1.5 H/R/RBI at -115 is a play I’m looking to make.
