Saturday recap: 2-1. Hicks and Suarez crushed their strikeout lines on their way to picking up wins. Matt Chapman was our lone miss as he didn’t finish with a hit and instead went 0-4 with three strikeouts.
MLB player prop bets: Sunday, April 28
Mookie Betts, over 0.5 hits (-245)
Betts and the Los Angeles Dodgers will wrap up their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The Dodgers will take on Kevin Gausman, who enters with an 0-3 record and a 5.57 ERA. Betts has hit Gausman well in his career, going 16-48 with one double, three home runs and eight RBI. He is riding a seven-game hit streak, has five hits already in this series and should finish with at least one base hit on Sunday.
Jared Jones, 6+ strikeouts (-205)
Jones has been electric to start the season, punching out 39 hitters in just 29 innings of work. He doesn’t always get the necessary run support, so he heads into Sunday’s matchup against the San Francisco Giants with a 2-2 record and a 2.79 ERA. San Francisco struck out eight times on Saturday — looking at you, Matt Chapman — and Martin Perez finished with four of them. Jones should be able to finish with at least six strikeouts as long as his pitch count doesn’t get away from him early.
Austin Gomber, over 1.5 walks allowed (-140)
Gomber and the Colorado Rockies will take on the Houston Astros in the final game of the MLB Mexico City Series on Sunday. The southpaw heads into this game with a 0-1 record and a 4.32 ERA. He has a tough matchup against Houston, who won on Saturday 12-4. Gomber walked three batters in his last start and has walked at least two in four of his five appearances this season. The risk for this bet is that the Astros pick up too many hits and don’t end up drawing walks, but I still think Gomber finishes with at least two walks allowed.
