The 2024 NFL Draft is officially in the history books as we saw a brand new batch of prospects enter the NFL ranks. With this year’s draft now in the rearview mirror, this is a good time to take an early look at the 2025 NFL Draft, which is set to take place from Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is the current favorite to be selected No. 1 with +100 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. The son of NFL Hall of Famer and current CU head coach Deion Sanders is entering his final year of college, where he is hoping to improve his draft stock while leading the Buffaloes to a winning season. His NFL-caliber arm strength and accuracy makes him an intriguing prospect, but his propensity to hold on to the ball for too long has led to him taking an astonishing amount of sacks throughout his career.
Sanders is part of a quarterback class that is considered to be weaker than its 2024 predecessor, so there’s a good chance that the team with the No. 1 pick passes on taking a QB. Tennessee edge rusher James Pearce Jr. has been trending upwards and many draft experts are projecting him to be the top selection next April. The Charlotte native had a breakout sophomore campaign in 2023, producing 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception for the Volunteers.
Still, we saw six quarterbacks taken within the top 12 picks in 2024, indicating that teams will use a premium pick on a QB even if its a reach. That means the likes of Georgia’s Carson Beck, Texas’ Quinn Ewers, and Penn State’s Drew Allar could vault themselves to the top of the board if they have extremely strong campaigns for their respective schools this fall.
