As the 2024 NFL Draft continues into the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, Alabama edge defender Chris Braswell remains on the board, awaiting his NFL destination. Braswell spent three years at Alabama and led the team in pressures in his final season. He finished 2023 with eight sacks, three forced fumbles, one interception, and 16 solo tackles. His performance earned him second-team All-SEC honors.
Chris Braswell: Scouting Report
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein breaks down Braswell’s strengths and shortcomings as he heads to the next level:
Edge defender with good size and length but limited playing time over his four years at Alabama. Braswell chose to stick it out at Alabama rather than transferring and was rewarded with a productive final campaign. He doesn’t play with great technique or anchor as an edge-setter and is average in taking on in-line tight ends at the point of attack. As a pass rusher, he gets off the ball with good burst and uses a variety of moves, speeds and angles to create opportunities but needs to add counters to his approach.
Mock Draft landing spots
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler sees Braswell getting taken by the Falcons at No. 43 overall. Zierlein’s mock sends him to the Jaguars at No. 48 overall, and Mel Kiper’s pre-draft mock had Braswell as the first pick of the third round, heading to the Panthers at No. 65 overall.
