The first three rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft are complete and it’s time to look back at Day 2 and who the fantasy winners and losers were. After we saw offensive players dominate the first round, the defensive side of the field came on strong on Day 2. But that doesn’t mean there weren’t some interesting offensive moves. Let’s look at how the fantasy landscape shifted Friday night.
Day 2 Winners
Zamir White, RB, Raiders
The draft isn’t over yet, but White has made it past three rounds without the Raiders drafting a running back. He should be the main back going into the season and he showed he can put up fantasy numbers with a full workload last season.
Ladd McConkey, WR, Chargers
The Chargers aren’t going to air it a ton, but they should be efficient when they do so and with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen gone, McConkey sets up well to see a lot of targets early on.
Keon Coleman, WR, Bills
There are varying draft grades on Coleman, but there’s little doubt he landed in a great spot in Buffalo. He’s got the attributes to be Josh Allen’s “X” receiver, which is a great spot to be after Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs hit the road.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Jets
After getting offensive line help in round one, he gets some receiver help in round two. The Jets drafted Western Kentucky’s Malachai Corley, who can be used all over the field as a weapon. This has been a good draft for Rodgers.
Russell Wilson, Justin Fields, QBs, Steelers
The Steelers offensive line was a weakness last season and then they brought in two quarterbacks who have a lot of trouble with sacks. But the Steelers have quickly tried to strengthen their offensive line in this draft, with Troy Fautuna in the first and Zach Frazier in the second. They then went and added help at wide receiver with Michigan’s Roman Wilson. The Steelers are going to run the ball, but there is no doubt this draft has been a big help to the new QBs coming in.
Day 2 Losers
AD Mitchell, WR, Colts
Mitchell fell further than many expected and he ended up getting drafted by the Colts. He’ll be able to develop with QB Anthony Richardson, but he’s going to have a hard time being a plus fantasy play due to Michael Pittman being the no-doubt WR1. Richardson is also going to have trouble supporting multiple fantasy receivers at this point in his career. He’ll be worth adding to your dynasty squad, but I’ll avoid in re-draft for now.
Kyren Williams, RB, Rams
Williams should remain the lead back in Los Angeles, but he has some real competition after the Rams drafted Blake Corum in the third round. The two have similar skill sets and Sean McVay has shown that he will switch things up at running back. Williams remains a good fantasy pick this season, but there is more risk now than before, which may knock him out of the first round.
James Conner, RB, Cardinals
Conner’s replacement was drafted early in round three as the Cardinals grabbed Florida State’s Trey Benson. Conner will remain the starter, but his injury history could come back to haunt hi again, giving Benson an inroad into more work.
