The Denver Broncos selected Oregon QB Bo Nix with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday night in Detroit. Head coach Sean Payton was rumored to be looking for his next QB project and Nix appears to be it. We’re going to go over Nix’s fantasy football scope for the 2024 NFL season.
Oregon QB Bo Nix fantasy football outlook
Out of all the QB’s to go in the first round, Nix may be in the best situation in terms of coaching. Payton has won a Super Bowl and coached Drew Brees to a Hall of Fame career before leaving the New Orleans Saints. He was expected to have QB Russell Wilson ready to go in Denver. That didn’t exactly work out how Payton thought it would, and now the Broncos are going with a rookie in 2024 in Nix. Denver did bring in Zach Wilson via trade with the New York Jets but there’s no way he ends up as the starter, right? So it should be Nix at the helm to start 2024.
Bo Nix’s supporting cast
The Broncos shipped out WR Jerry Jeudy this offseason. So the wide receiver group is led by veteran Courtland Sutton and second-year wideout Marvin Mims Jr. The Broncos also added veteran Josh Reynolds this offseason. Plus, Tim Patrick should be coming back from major injury. At TE, Adam Trautman and Greg Dulcich should get the bulk of the snaps. At running back, Javonte Williams returned from injury in 2023 and rushed for 774 yards in 16 games with three TDs on a mostly bad Broncos’ offense.
Where should Bo Nix rank among QBs in fantasy football?
Nix is an interesting fantasy football dynasty option. He’s likely not worth drafting in season-long and re-draft formats because of the unknowns. In a fresh season-long league, you can likely wait to add Nix off the waiver wire if he becomes fantasy relevant and you need a QB. Chances are that won’t be the case but we’ll see. Nix isn’t a bad option in keeper formats if he does look OK as a rookie and you can get him cheap. But even that might be a stretch.
