The Celtics-Heat rivalry continued to spill over into The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz on Wednesday as Paul Pierce joined the show. After asking where Mike Ryan was at, the Truth made a few things clear.
He has no love for the Heat and he still bleeds green even after all these years.
In fact, the Truth points out that he just retweeted his game-winning shot against the Heat back in 2010.

Dan asks if even after a storied Hall of Fame career, does Pierce still carry around the scars of his battles against Miami? Does his hatred burn hottest for the Heat?
“It’s up there with New York, too. Miami, New York, Lakers, it’s only a few,” Pierce says, before noting that it’s something we don’t see in sports anymore. He says people want to see the hatred, the rivalry, the competitive spirit and Pierce just doesn’t see it anymore. He would never knock down D Wade, Bosh or LeBron and then pick them up. There were no hugs after the game. He’s not saying he hates them, but if he saw them in public or at the All-Star Game it’s all about respect. But in the spirit of the game when they were on the court it was all about competitive rivalry. Even if Udonis Haslem says it’s on at first sight.

And of course, this was the moment the Mike Ryan Ruiz comes into the chat, brushing his team in the same manner as Pierce at the beginning of the interview.
“We have a brush-off, Dan-O!” Tony says.
And it devolves from there into a discussion about championships, Eastern Conference titles and how Mike needs to line up his “wannabe Travis Kelce beard.”
‘Y’all crazy man,” the Truth … truthfully … says.

SHOW BREAKDOWN
Local Hour: Cheaters Never Prosper
- Today’s cast: Dan, Jonathan Zaslow, Chris, Billy, Jeremy, Jessica, Roy, and Tony. Dan says it felt like he could “taste his heart” with how nervous he was during the Panthers OT victory last night, but did Roy experience ANY fear? Then, the tension of the show is boiling over our Heat talk the last couple of days and Chris Cote SEES BOTH SIDES!!!! Zaslow sounds off on Mike Ryan (and it summons Jeremy from out of nowhere) before taking a torch to the show platforming Paul Pierce later today. Plus, David Samson is here to discuss the London marathon, Zaslow’s issues with Paul Pierce, the refs performing worse in the Playoffs, Pablo Torre, and Baby Reindeer.
Big Suey: Problems Are Opportunities
- Dan wants to continue to explore the tension within the show as Stugotz heads to De(Troy)t for the NFL Draft and has a list of complaints about the execution of our show that were seemingly created by himself. Then, Billy considers going back to school, we relive the Sports Bang days with Zaslow, and Amber Wilson shares a story that makes Stugotz look…not great. Plus, problems are just opportunities for success.
Hour 1: Lack of Joy Roy
- Dan is convinced Roy’s lack of joy is a bluff, and Zaslow says the anxiety of his fandom is like drugs. Then, it’s time for AGAINST! THE! SPREAD! as Billy gets himself into some trouble. Plus, Orlando Brown Jr. is here to make fun of Greg Cote’s draft video and talk Chris Cote’s traffic altercation and how he’d handle it, the stress of being drafted, memorizing area codes, and the Top 5 Shit Talkers in the NFL.
Hour 2: WHERE RUIZ AT?
- Mina Kimes is here to talk NFL Draft and J.J. McCarthy, potential trades, a pick the Dolphins could make, the teams who are the best at drafting, and all the hot storylines headed into tomorrow. Then, Dan tries to bring us through several goal calls of last night’s Panthers game and it sends Chris into a tailspin of trying to find old Randy Moller goal calls. Plus, Paul Pierce is here with an important question: WHERE RUIZ AT? Will Mike Ryan join us to confront Paul as they both brush their teeth? For some reason, the answer is yes.
Postgame Show: Spliff Notes
- JuJu Gotti is here to discuss what the show got right today and what it got wrong.
