Update: Well, Suggs is good to go and is playing through the knee sprain in the second half. We’ll see how effective he ends up being as the Magic try to level this series.
Update: Suggs is officially questionable to return after being diagnosed with a knee sprain, which is good news all things considered after his initial reaction to the injury. He’s unlikely to come back in this game unless the Magic get closer to Cleveland in the second half but there’s an extra day in the schedule for rest between Games 2 and 3 in this series. There’s a chance he could be back for Game 3 assuming this is more of a pain management issue rather than actual structural damage.
Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs has exited Game 2 of their first-round matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a knee injury.
He suffered the injury while try to step in and defend against a Donovan Mitchell jumpshot in the first quarter of Monday’s game. He had to be helped off the floor by his teammates and while there is no official word on his status at the moment, it is unlikely that he’ll return to this contest.

This is a huge blow to the Magic lineup, who are trying to tie the series at 1-1 after dropping Game 1 on Saturday. The third-year shooting guard shot poorly from the field in that contest, but still managed to make a decent contribution with 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. He started 75 games for Orlando throughout the regular season, averaging 12.6 points through 27 minutes per night.
Game 3 between these two teams is set for Thursday in Orlando. We should find out Suggs’ status for that game by Wednesday evening.
