The Milwaukee Brewers entered Friday’s series opening game with the St. Louis Cardinals leading the National League Central and look to continue their winning ways on Saturday in St. Louis.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals (-125, 8)

The pitching start for the Brewers goes to DL Hall, who was the main player the Brewers received in in Corbin Burnes trade and thus far has yet to pay dividends with a 7.11 ERA and 7.38 fielding independent through three starts.

While Hall is off to a tough start in Milwaukee, Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas has not been much better with a 5.82 ERA and though his fielding independent is 3.98, his current 2.9 walks per nine innings rate is on pace to be his worst mark as a member of the Cardinals.

St. Louis also entered this series providing minimal run support to their pitching staff, ranking 24th in the league with just under 3.7 runs per game scored while the Brewers entered the series third in runs scored per game while their 7.1 runs per game on the road leads the league.

Former National League MVP Christian Yelich landing on the injured list figures to negatively impact the Brewers lineup, but the team’s bullpen pitching should help the team in lower scoring games in the interim.

Both teams entered Friday having had their respective bullpens pitch well with the Brewers 3.42 ERA ranking 11th among MLB bullpens while the Cardinals are ninth with a 3.27 ERA, but both bullpens took on a larger workload than expected in the series opener with Friday’s affair going to a 10th inning.

Despite the injury to Yelich, the Brewers have a lineup deep enough to generate enough support as both teams will slug away the disappointments they had at the plate in Friday’s 2-1 extra inning opener.
