Texas Rangers at Atlanta Braves
Now 20 games into the season, the Rangers have shown they can attack opposing pitchers early. Texas has managed to log at least one run in the opening inning on eight occasions, which is tied for the fourth-highest total in all of baseball.
On top of that, the Braves have allowed a run in the first inning eight times this season. That’s tied for the second-highest total across MLB.
With all of this in play, the Rangers are +260 to score a run in the first inning.
Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants
No team has more first innings in which they’ve logged a home run than the Diamondbacks this season (seven).
Arizona has a chance for another with Blake Snell pitching for the Giants on Friday. The San Francisco left-hander gave up two homers in his recent outing, which only lasted four innings. The Diamondbacks are +700 to hit a home run in the first inning.
But if you’re looking to back Snell, one way to do that is by looking to his matchup against Lourdes Guirriel Jr. The Arizona outfielder is +265 to strike out in his first plate appearance of the night. In 15 career plate appearances against Snell, the left-hander has struck out Guirriel eight times.
