An essential game 7 between two of the biggest super lightweights in boxing takes place this Saturday, April 20. Reigning WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) takes on Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs). It all gets going live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
The bout was originally set for Haney’s WBC belt, but news broke Friday that Garcia missed the 140-pound threshold by 3.2 pounds. Garcia weighed in at 143.2 pounds, a tough break as both sides will re-negotiate the terms for the bout to proceed.

Fighter history
Haney at 25, has cemented an unbeaten record along with champion status in two weight divisions. “The Dream” reached undisputed status at 135 pounds, picking up wins over George Kambosos (twice) and Vasiliy Lomachenko. Last June, he out-maneuvered Regis Prograis in a convincing unanimous decision win. It was quite the coming out party for Haney at 140 pounds.
Garcia began his career 23-0, including a KO victory over Luke Campbell in 2021 that granted him the WBC vacant interim lightweight title. However, he failed his biggest test in April 2023, losing to Gervonta Davis via seventh-round KO. To his credit, Garcia took a fight that not many would at 135 pounds. A slew of recent social media antics have many questioning his mental coming into this one, but he has been successful in the past against Haney.
This bout marks their first meeting after six fights at the amateur level. Each fighter picked up three victories prior to each turning pro, as this one will settle the score.

Haney is a -800 betting favorite to win, while Garcia is a +500 underdog. The favored method of victory is Haney to win by knockout (-115), according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
