Unbeaten WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) takes on Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) this Saturday, April 20. The 140-pound clash is taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. DAZN is set to have live coverage of the bout.
Garcia missed weight by 3.2 pounds, tipping the scales at 143.2 making this bout a non title fight. An unfortunate shift of events in what was a highly anticipated championship fight.
Haney achieved undisputed status at 135 pounds, capturing the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF titles before making the move to super lightweight. Last December, “The Dream” out-punched Regis Prograis en route to a unanimous decision win. The win granted him the WBC belt and Haney has no plans to slow down until he becomes undisputed at 140 pounds.
Garcia defeated Oscar Duarte last December by way of an 8th-round KO. He came up short in a highly touted showdown with Gervonta Davis in April 2023. Prior to the loss against Davis, Garcia had started 23-0, including a brief stint as vacant WBC interim lightweight champion.
