On the latest edition of All The Smoke Unplugged, Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson touched upon the hip hop beef everyone is talking about — Drake vs. … basically everybody.

Matt says hip hop is back, baby! Drake vs. everyone has basically taken over the airwaves over the last couple of weeks. Those getting involved are a who’s who in pop culture today. Kendrick. J. Cole (although he later apologized, which Stak says was lame). Metro Boomin. Future. The Weeknd. Even Ja Morant (somehow). Stak has one simple message, however — A$AP Rocky sit down! Stak says no one wants to hear any bars from him.
Matt likes Rick Ross’ stuff, noting he has a way of putting words and melodies together. He loves where it’s at right now, and if it can stay competitive and stay here, he thinks it is bring life to the game. Hey says you can say all you want and as long as it stays here, it’s good for music. If stuff starts to spill over and things begin to happen Matt says he’s not a fan of that, but as long as it stays on wax it’s good for the game.
Stak says someone needs to make a song, “I’m not tough, I just want to rap.” He says people just want to hear good music and he doesn’t want to see anyone fight. But he DOES want to see them compete in rap. But, he cautions that there is always one dude who is not rapping, who has nothing to do with anything who wants to make himself famous and do some dumb stuff. It’s never the rappers, it’s always the hangers on, Stak says.
Demarcus Cousins agrees with the guys. As a fan of hip hop, he says it’s great and what he wants to see. He says the fact that you have almost all the current top dogs in the game in competition, that’s great. He agrees, however, that he hopes it remains on wax and he thinks it will because we’re talking about a different caliber of rappers who have been in the game for a long time. He says they’re going to keep us all entertained, but at the end of the day they know they’re all going to benefit from the situation. He wants more bars, more disses. Keep it coming!
