The Atlanta Braves will play the second game of its road series at the Miami Marlins this afternoon and it’s another opportunity for Ronald Acuna to do damage on the basepaths. The reigning NL MVP has been hit or miss at the plate so far but when he’s gotten on this week, he’s been a problem. That was crystal clear last night when he swiped two bags in last night’s 8-1 victory and even with the Marlins being on high alert, I think he’ll get another one today.
Yordan Alvarez, over 1.5 total bases (+110)
The Houston Astros will continue its weekend set against the Texas Rangers this afternoon and Yordan Alvarez should have a favorable matchup when going up against Rangers starter Andrew Heaney. Through 17 career at bats against Heaney, Alvarez has been dominant with a .412 batting average and this presents a great opportunity for him to get a few knocks today. I’ll take the over on his total bases.
Marco Gonzales, over 4.5 strikeouts (+130)
Marco Gonzales will make his third start of the season this afternoon as the Pittsburgh Pirates continue their series against the Philadelphia Phillies this afternoon. The veteran has been solid so far with a 2.45 ERA and this could be a favorable matchup for him on the strikeout front. Philly batters have struck out a league-high 58 times over the past week, so look for Gonzeles to rack up the K’s here.
