The Buffalo Bills will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs. The Bills are the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff picture, while the Steelers are the No. 7 seed. This important game is expected to be riddled with bad weather, and unfortunately, Buffalo doesn’t have a clean bill of health heading into game day.
Let’s take a look at Buffalo’s last injury report of the week and how it could affect the game on Sunday.
Bills final injury report
Out: WR Gabe Davis (knee), S Taylor Rapp (calf)
Doubtful: N/A
Questionable: LB Tyrel Dodson (shoulder), CB Rasul Douglas (knee)
Notable players on in-week report removed from final: QB Josh Allen (neck), S Micah Hyde (neck), and TE Dawson Knox (illness).
How the team’s injuries may affect the Bills in Wild Card round
The good news for the Bills is that quarterback Josh Allen was able to be removed from the injure report. He was a full practice participant all week, but still, it’s never good to see your franchise quarterback’s name on the report.
Buffalo has ruled out two players ahead of the weekend, wide receiver Gabe Davis and safety Taylor Rapp. The team’s receiving corps is led by Stefon Diggs, but Davis has been the second-best receiver this season. He has brought in 45 of his 81 targets for 746 yards and seven touchdowns. Rapp played in 16 games this season and had 50 tackles, two passes defended and an interception. He usually rotates into the secondary behind Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde.
These absences give upside to the Steelers, but they remain 10-point underdogs. It will put more pressure on Poyer and Hyde to aid the team’s linebackers in stopping the Pittsburgh rushing attack. Davis missing the game means that Khalil Shakir and Trent Sherfield are going to have to also step up to try and open up the Buffalo offense.
