Pacers PG Tyrese Haliburton out at least 2 weeks after suffering Grade 1 hamstring strain Monday vs. Celtics

Tuesday udpate: According to Adrian Wojnarowski, it’s officially a Grade 1 hamstring strain for Haliburton and he will be re-evaluated in two weeks. This is a tremendous result all things considered for the Pacers, who have relied heavily on Haliburton to operate this offense. Look for Andrew Nembhard and T.J. McConnell to pick up the slack while Haliburton is sidelined, but the star guard has clearly avoided a very serious injury.

Update: It’s officially a hamstring strain for Haliburton, and he will not be returning to the game Monday. All things considered, that’s a good sign for the Pacers and fans since it’s a muscle injury rather than a bone injury. The severity of the strain will determine how much time he misses, but the Pacers star appears to have avoided the worst-case scenario.

Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton had to be carried to the locker room Monday after suffering a leg injury against the Boston Celtics. Haliburton was driving to the basket when he appeared to slip while trying to stop on a dime. Here’s a look at the injury.

It’s safe to assume Haliburton’s night is done, and the best the Pacers and fans can hope for is that the point guard avoided a serious injury. Haliburton likely finishes the night with seven points, six assists and two rebounds.

With Haliburton unlikely to return, look for Andrew Nembhard and T.J. McConnell to be the primary guards for this team. Both have been in the rotation regularly and can step into a bigger role, but it’ll be hard for either to replace Haliburton’s ability to operate this offensive system. Neither can shoot the ball like Haliburton, which will create additional spacing problems for Indiana. Bennedict Mathurin might also see some usage as the primary ball- handler.

Hopefully, Haliburton has avoided a major injury and will only miss a short amount of time.
