Way too early look at 2023-24 Stanley Cup odds

We’re checking out the odds on DraftKings Sportsbook to win the Stanley Cup next season after the Golden Knights beat the Panthers in the Final.

The Vegas Golden Knights are Stanley Cup champions and that puts an end to the 2022-23 NHL season. Now that the Knights have won their first Cup in franchise history, we can look ahead to next season and who is favored to win the Stanley Cup. It’s never too early to look at futures.

2023-24 Stanley Cup odds

The defending champs are at +1300 to win the Cup again and go back-to-back. The last back-to-back champs — the Tampa Bay Lightning — was only a few seasons ago. Tampa Bay enters at +1600. The Avalanche and Bruins are the favorites at +800. Behind them, we’ll see the reigning East champion Florida Panthers, who were blown out 9-3 in Game 5 vs. the Knights. Florida has a lot of question marks moving forward outside of captain Aleksander Barkov and RW Matthew Tkachuk.

There’s plenty of value on the board now and before the draft and free agency. We shouldn’t expect too much movement in the odds via free agency but with players potentially on the move in the trade market. We could see the Toronto Maple Leafs make a big move, whether it be trading William Nylander or Mitch Marner.

If there are a few teams down the board that stick out, the first is the Pittsburgh Penguins at +3000. The Penguins should have been the last playoff team ahead of Florida, but choked it away in the final few games. Pittsburgh has incentive to go Cup chasing with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin getting to the end of their careers. A few moves to shore up the blue line could get Pittsburgh there.
