Game day update: Brissett is unlikely to play on Sunday, per Adam Schefter. Heāll go through pre-game warmups to confirm his status, but the plan right now is for Sam Howell to get the start.
After relieving QB Sam Howell in back-to-back games, Jacoby Brissett was finally elevated to Washington Commanders starting QB for Week 17 against the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, Brissett suffered a hamstring injury in practice leading up to the NFC showdown.
Hereās what you need to know.
Jacoby Brissett injury
Fantasy football analysis
Brissett has entered in relief for a struggling Howell in consecutive contests, and heās had success in garbage time. In his last two appearances, Brissett has completed 18-of-23 passes for 224 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He has a tough matchup this week against the Niners if he plays.
NFL DFS analysis
If Brissett plays, heās a solid option in DFS tournaments. Heāll have low ownership and could be an option for a build that doesnāt pay up at the QB position. The 49ers look like a tough matchup on paper, however, theyāll be with starting DL Arik Armstead and will most likely be starting third-string safety Logan Ryan. The Niners are also coming off a short week and traveling.
Betting analysis
The Commanders are currently 13.5 point home underdogs. With Brissett dealing with a hamstring injury, that doesnāt make Washingtonās outlook any better. As we mentioned before, though, the Niners’ defense could be ripe for giving up points. If Brissett plays, it wouldnāt be a surprise if the Commanders can backdoor cover and still lose by double digits.
