Status of Brock Bowers for Georgia in Orange Bowl vs. Florida State

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers will not play against Florida State in Saturday’s Orange Bowl. Bowers, the Bulldogs’ leading receiver for the 2023 season, is projected to be one of the top picks of the 2024 draft. He underwent ankle surgery earlier this year, and was able to return before the end of the season, but dealt with lingering injuries.

The Bulldogs’ dreams of a three-peat were killed with a loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship game, and they now face an undefeated Florida State team with plenty of opt-outs of their own.

While players often announce ahead of time that they are opting out of a bowl game, it is by no means a requirement. Many expected Bowers to sit this one out — particularly with his ankle not being fully healed — but there was no word out of the Georgia camp on whether or not he would play.

The Bulldogs enter the game as a 22-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook.
