The Denver Broncos are among the hottest teams in the NFL, having won five straight games heading into Week 13. They’ll travel to face the Houston Texans on Sunday and will once again look toward their shared backfield for a spark on offense. Javonte Williams and Samaje Perine have worked efficiently in tandem, but as for fantasy managers, it may come down to one or the other in lineups.
We break down which player is best suited to start in fantasy lineups as the Broncos face the Texans on Sunday.
Fantasy football start sit advice: Broncos RBs
Start. Williams managed just 10.1 PPR fantasy points last week off of 20 touches, though he did leave for a portion of the game due to a neck injury. He was able to return, but the troubling news is that he’s averaging just 3.6 yards per carry this season. That being said, he’ll continue to receive the volume of carries meant for an RB1, which means fantasy managers can’t afford to bench him entirely.
Rather, treat him as nothing more than an RB3 / flex option in both smaller and larger fantasy leagues this week.
Sit. Perine is averaging a little over 13 PPR fantasy points per game in the last two weeks, but his latest outing came by way of vulturing a touchdown with Williams sidelined due to injury. Perine is arguably touchdown-or-bust when it comes to fantasy, especially if Williams remains active and in the backfield. He should be left on the bench this week aptly categorized as a handcuff moving forward.
Can you play both Javonte Williams and Samaje Perine in the same lineup?
Neither running back has played particularly stellar this season, with Wiliams’ 10.7 average PPR fantasy points per game just ahead of Perine’s 7.8 average. Thus, it’s hard to argue for plugging both into lineups for Week 13. If fantasy managers had to choose, the better option would be to stick with Williams as he continues to dominate the backfield when it comes to rushing attempts.
