The Baltimore RavensSan Francisco 49ers game got off to a weird start on Monday Night Football following QB Lamar Jackson’s bizarre safety.

After 49ers QB Brock Purdy threw a terrible red-zone interception, the Ravens looked to strike first against the Niners, except San Francisco had other plans. When Jackson dropped back to pass in the first quarter, the NFL MVP hopeful drifted into his own end zone and tripped over an official as he tried to throw the ball away. It was called intentional grounding and was called a safety to give the 49ers a 2-0 lead early in the game.

Here’s the video:

It’s the 49ers first safety since Oct. 28, 2018 when San Francisco forced former Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen to get called for intentional grounding in the end zone, according to the Associated Press.

The Niners currently lead 5-0 in the first quarter following the safety and a Jake Moody field goal.
