The Seattle Seahawks were staring down what seemed to be a tough opponent on Monday Night Football in the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15. Without QB Geno Smith for a second straight game, the Seahawks were able to pull out a win over the Eagles 20-17 to improve to 7-7 on the season. Seattle still needs some help to get into the playoffs but are still in good position to sneak in. Let’s take a look at who Seahawks fans should be rooting for in Week 16.
Result: Seahawks beat the Titans 20-17. It was a must win to stay in the playoff race. They currently hold the last playoff spot.
Saints vs. Rams
Result: Rams beat the Saints 30-22. It would have been good for the Rams to lose, but the Saints losing helps a little.
The Rams are directly ahead of the Seahawks as the 7-seed in the NFC playoff standings. The Seahawks sit in 8th place in the conference and might have a tough time with tiebreakers given their division record. As long as the Seahawks take care of business and win in Week 16 vs. the Titans, a New Orleans win is what you want. Los Angeles losing would bump them down and the Seahawks have the edge over the Saints based on conference winning percentage.

Lions vs. Vikings
Result: Lions beat the Vikings 30-24. This was a much-needed result for the Seahawks, who pass the Vikings in the playoff race.
The Vikings enter Week 16 holding down the 6-seed in the conference despite a loss in Week 15 to the Bengals. The Lions are in the thick of the race for the No. 1 seed in the NFC at 10-4 on the season. Minnesota has an outside shot at the NFC North title if Detroit loses out and the Vikings win their final three games. So we should get one of the more competitive games of Week 16. Detroit winning is what the Seahawks should be rooting for on Sunday. A Vikings loss just opens up another spot in the Wild Card round for Seattle to possibly secure.

Jaguars vs. Buccaneers
Result: The Buccaneers beat the Jaguars 30-12.
This game doesn’t matter too much to the Seahawks but the Bucs are another team at 7-7. But one of the Saints, Bucs or Falcons will win the NFC South division and take the No. 4 seed in the NFC. Whoever wins the NFC South wouldn’t play the Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs, hypothetically, anyway. So if Seahawks fans are already rooting for the Saints, also rooting for the Bucs doesn’t make too much sense. If you’re a Seahawks fan you might as well root against the Falcons and Packers to push those teams out of playoff contention in the NFC.
