Report: Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence clears concussion protocol, questionable for Week 16 vs. Bucs

Trevor Lawrence finished the Jaguars Sunday night loss to the Ravens, but was later diagnosed with a concussion and is now in protocol, per Demetrius Harvey. Lawrence had a poor game overall, completing 25-of-43 passes for one touchdown, no interceptions, and two lost fumbles.

This, of course, comes at a bad time for the Jaguars, who are in a three-way tie for the AFC South lead. They do have the tiebreakers and would win the division as of today, but they take on a decent Buccaneers team this week and still aren’t a lock for the playoffs.

Trevor Lawrence injury updates

Saturday update: Lawrence has cleared concussion protocol and will travel with the team to Tampa, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Friday update: Lawrence has been listed as questionable heading into the weekend.

Friday update: Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said on Friday that Lawrence will practice today, but remains in concussion protocol. He’ll have to be cleared by both a team doctor and an independent neurologist to travel with the team to Tampa on Saturday.

Thursday update: Lawrence remains in concussion protocol and hasn’t advanced enough to be on the practice field, as he wasn’t spotted on Thursday, per Mike Garafolo.

Wednesday update: Lawrence was not at practice today, per ESPN’s Micahel DiRocco.

Monday update: Trevor Lawrence is in concussion protocol for Week 16.

Fantasy football analysis

C.J. Beathard would take over for the Jaguars and would have some fantasy streaming appeal against the Bucs, who have given up big games through the air this year. But, Beathard is a step down for the rest of the fantasy relevant players on the team.

Betting analysis

This game doesn’t have betting lines up at the moment due to Lawrence’s injury. Like the Jaguars, the Buccaneers hold a slim lead in their division and will be motivated at home to win. They could easily be the favorites if Lawrence is out.
