We rode a lot of NFC South QB last week in the value plays and one of them paid off big time. Bucs QB Baker Mayfield had a field day against the Packers in Week 15, throwing for 381 yards and four TDs for 33.04 fantasy points. If you had Mayfield, chances are he was a tournament winner for a lot of lineups. So after that performance, does that mean we ride another NFC South QB against Green Bay this week? Let’s take a look at some value plays for the main Sunday slate on DraftKings.
NFL DFS Picks, Week 16: QB value plays
Gardner Minshew, IND vs. ATL, $5,900
The Indianapolis Colts are tied atop the AFC South division and have a legit chance to get a home game in the playoffs. Minshew has been a revelation for the Colts since rookie QB Anthony Richardson went down. Minshew has posted at least 20 fantasy points in two of the past three games, coming off a 3-TD performance vs. the Steelers last week. The Falcons’ defense is more of a mirage than a legit unit. Atlanta has played a countless string of mediocre QBs all season. Not to say Minshew is elite but he’s been steady and this is a big spot for the offense. If WR Michael Pittman Jr. can clear concussion protocol, that makes Minshew even more appealing.
Nick Mullens, MIN vs. DET, $5,300
In the hellscape that is NFL QBs this season, we find ourselves considering Nick Mullens in Week 16. Instead of continuing on with Joshua Dobbs, the Vikings opted to start Mullens last week vs. the Bengals on Saturday. Minnesota almost pulled out a win in overtime. Mullens completed almost 80% of his passes for over 300 yards and two TDs. He also threw a pair of INTs but you have to live with that for a QB like Mullens. Vikings-Lions should have a playoff atmosphere and if Minnesota is trailing, expect Mullens to be chucking most of the game. The over/under is 47 on DraftKings Sportsbook, one of the higher totals on the slate.
Bryce Young, CAR vs. GB, $4,700
Best believe we’re going back to the well with a QB vs. the Packers this week. Head coach Matt LaFleur already confirmed DC Joe Barry will continue defensive play-calling the rest of the season. Green Bay just got absolutely torched by Baker Mayfield. That isn’t to say Young will do the same but if any secondary can make a QB look elite, it’s the Packers right now. There’s a chance the Packers get CB Jaire Alexander and S Darnell Savage back. If that’s the case, maybe we reconsider this pick. But the way everyone else played last week was abysmal. Young’s rushing upside should come into play. The Packers did a miserable job containing Giants QB Tommy DeVito a few weeks ago. Green Bay’s pass rush is solid but when QBs can get to the second level, it usually results in chunk yardage. Young isn’t a bad salary-saver for GPPs this week.
