Divisional races are heating up as the 2023 NFL regular season moves toward its eventual conclusion. Week 14 has seen some races tighten up with a month of football remaining. Most notably, we now have a three-way tie atop the NFC South after the Bucs beat the Falcons.
The Lions lost a slightly unexpected one to the Bears. Divisional upsets happen, but Detroit had been playing some strong football. The Lions will likely still win the division, but they didn’t make things any easier for themselves.
Below are the eight divisional standings, along with some quick thoughts about each division after 14 weeks of football. We’ll update with remaining records as the league moves toward Week 15.
AFC East
The Patriots beat the Steelers on Thursday Night Football to open the week. The Jets upset the Texans. The Bills upset the Chiefs in Kansas City.
AFC North
The Steelers lost to the Patriots on Thursday to open the week. The Bengals beat the Colts with ease. The Browns beat the Jaguars and all four AFC North teams would make the playoffs if they started today. The Ravens closed things out for the division with an overtime win over the Rams.
AFC South
The Colts lost an ugly one to the Bengals. The Texans lost their own ugly contest to the Jets. The Jaguars lost to the Browns, which leaves the top three teams within a game of each other.
AFC West
The Raiders lost to the Vikings. The Broncos thumped the Chargers. The Chiefs lost to the Bills.
NFC East
The Cowboys defeated the Eagles to unseat Philadelphia for first in the NFC East. The Commanders were on bye. The Giants play on “MNF.”
NFC North
The Bears upset the Lions. The Vikings beat the Raiders.
NFC South
The Bucs beat the Falcons and the Saints beat the Panthers. We now have a three-way tie in for the division lead and Tampa is on top thanks to the common games tiebreaker.
NFC West
The Rams lost in overtime to the Ravens. The 49ers beat the Seahawks to take a four-game lead in the division.
