Los Angeles Lakers star big man Anthony Davis is playing through a groin injury Saturday against the Indiana Pacers in the first NBA In-Season Tournament final. This is significant because Davis already came into the game dealing with hip/groin issues from earlier this season. He’s been playing through this issue for most of the year, but did appear to aggravate the injury in the third quarter. For now, he’s staying in the game but is having some trouble moving up and down the floor.
It has been a dominant game for Davis with 22 points and 14 rebounds as of this writing. The Lakers have not been able to completely pull away from the Pacers, but they’ve maintained a healthy lead thanks to Davis’ contributions. He’s also been impactful when it comes to affecting shots with three blocks.
If Davis eventually did need to leave the contest, Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood are next up in the rotation. We could see Hayes get more playing time to spell Davis, especially if the Lakers extend their lead as the game goes on.
