As Week 12 wraps up, we take a look at how each team’s performance and results affected their Super Bowl odds.
Who had the best Week 12 performance?
The Falcons had a significant win this week over the Saints that propelled them to the top of the top of the NFC South, and the Jaguars put together a key win over the Texans to solidify their spot atop the AFC South. The Broncos’ victory over the Browns marked their fifth win in a row this season, and Denver now sits just outside the bubble in the playoff picture.
However, the Dolphins and Cowboys had the best wins of the week. They both played weaker teams in the Jets and the Commanders, respectively, but put together dominant offensive performances as they continue their march toward the postseason.
Which favorites have work to do?
The Chiefs and Eagles each grabbed a win in Week 12, but there may be some work to do on the way to the top. Last year’s Super Bowl participants are tied as the favorites to win this season’s championship, but the Eagles struggled to pull out an overtime win over the .500 Bills this week, while the Chiefs have just not looked up to par with their usual standard this season. They beat the Raiders 31-17 this week, but did not pull away until the fourth quarter.
The Lions fell to the Packers this week in an unexpected home loss. Detroit still has two games against the Vikings and one against the Cowboys on their schedule this season, and will need to win these kinds of matchups to give themselves more wiggle room in their more challenging games.
Which teams with upset wins could be legit Super Bowl contenders?
There weren’t any teams that pulled off upset wins this week that are in the potential Super Bowl contender category, but the closest we can get is the Broncos. Denver entered the game as a one-point home favorite and blew out Cleveland this week, 29-12. The Broncos have now won five games in a row and have a playoff berth, if not a Super Bowl berth, within reach if they can keep this momentum going.
