The Indianapolis Colts will take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 13 of the NFL season. This will be the second matchup between these AFC South divisional opponents, with Indy taking the 23-16 win in Week 5. The Colts’ offense may have to revert back to its backfield depth as starting running back Jonathan Taylor is dealing with a thumb injury.
Jonathan Taylor injury updates
Wednesday update: Head coach Shane Steichan didn’t give much more information on Taylor’s injury on Wednesday, but did say that I.R. isn’t in consideration, per Mike Chappell. That’s good news for his availability to return for the fantasy playoffs.
Tuesday PM update: Colts owner Jim Irsay says that Taylor is going to have thumb surgery on Wednesday, and the hope is that he will be able to come back in two to three weeks and avoid an IR stint.
Tuesday PM update: The injury is considered “legit” and Taylor going to injured reserve is on the table, per ESPN’s Stephen Holder.
Tuesday update: Taylor was dealing with a thumb injury throughout the second half of Week 12’s victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per Ian Rapoport. He finished with 91 yards and two touchdowns, but the injury is significant enough that the team wants him to undergo further evaluation.
Fantasy football analysis
Taylor finished as the overall RB6 in half-PPR scoring formats in Week 12. The Tennessee Titans’ defense allows middle-of-the-road numbers to running backs, but with the workload, Taylor would still be worth starting in 10-team leagues or larger.
If Taylor misses the game, Zack Moss will take back over as the starter. He was featured in the backfield to begin the season when Taylor was on the non-reserve/PUP list due to a back injury. Moss didn’t even play in the team’s season opener and still was the overall RB6 in half-PPR scoring. If Taylor is sidelined, Moss can take his place in 10-team leagues or larger.
