Chuba Hubbard vs. Miles Sanders: Who should you play in fantasy football? Are both viable options?

The lowly Carolina Panthers take on the Tennesse Titans Sunday in a game that doesn’t mean much when it comes to the overall stakes of the 2023 season. But that doesn’t mean that the game doesn’t hold any significance when it comes to fantasy football, as the Panthers have a battle at running back that could be the deciding matchup in countless fantasy matchups this week. Here’s a look at who we think you should start out of the duo.

Fantasy football start sit advice: Panthers RBs

Miles Sanders

When the Panthers signed Sanders to a four-yea, $25 million contract, they did so in the hopes that emerge as the perfect complement to rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Instead, he’s been the opposite, as he’s only had two games with 50+ yards rushing and is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry.

Chuba Hubbard

Hubbard’s picked up the slack in Sanders’ absence, as he’s tallied 408 yards rushing on the season and rushed for a season-high 88 yards in the Panthers’ game against the Dolphins in October. Hubbard’s not doing much better in the yard per attempt department (he’s averaging just 3.9 yards per carry), but he’s been the more consistent performer.

Can you play both Sanders and Hubbard in the same lineup?

Can you? Sure. Should you? No. The Panthers reached the 100-yard rushing total as a team for just the third time all season last week, and now is going against a Titans defense that’s giving up just 3.3 yards per carry. Sanders is the better running back, but right now neither one of them has done anything to earn a spot in your lineup. If you need to start one of them I’d go with Hubbard just because he’s been the more consistent performer, but I’d look elsewhere for running back options if you have the opportunity.
