Michael Thomas placed on IR ahead of Week 12 vs. Falcons

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is headed to injured reserve after sustaining a knee injury in Week 10 against the Vikings. With just six weeks left in the season, it’s hard to say whether or not we will see him on the field again this year.

Michael Thomas injury updates

Thomas will be out for at least four weeks on injured reserve.

Fantasy football analysis

Thomas was already trailing Rashid Shaheed in receiving yards and touchdowns, and we may see even more of an uptick in action for Shaheed going forward. Chris Olave will continue to see the majority of targets, and rookie A.T. Perry may get some targets going forward as well.

Betting analysis

Thomas’ absence will mean one fewer receiver for the Saints, but frankly, they have bigger issues to worry about right now. It’s unclear whether Derek Carr will be able to return in time for this matchup, or if Jameis Winston will continue to start. With several other strong receivers in the mix, this designation shouldn’t affect bettors’ choices too much.
