After experiencing a postponement in their opening leg of the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal due to inclement weather, Jamaica and Canada will play the second leg Tuesday at BMO Field in Toronto. Canada hold a 2-1 lead on aggregate and will need only a draw to advance to the semifinal round. Advancement also secures Canada’s place in the 2024 Copa America.

If it wasn’t for a late goal courtesy of Stephen Eustáquio, the opening leg would’ve been a draw despite Canada’s domination. Canada had 18 shots to Jamaica’s six, with seven shots on target to Jamaica’s two. The game did get a bit chippy with Jamaica picking up three yellow cards, but that wasn’t enough to stop Canada from grabbing the aggregate lead.
The hosts for Tuesday’s contest now just need a draw to advance, while Jamaica will be pushing hard to at least level the game. As mentioned earlier, a spot in the 2024 Copa America will be secured for whoever advances out of this round. That should be motivation enough for Canada to lock things down defensively. I don’t see them taking too many risks and pushing forward a lot, which makes me lean towards a draw in this second leg.
