We take a look at some DFS Showdown options for Monday night’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Here are our picks for captains, our favorite FLEXes, and players we think you should avoid this week.
NFL DFS Showdown strategy: Eagles vs. Chiefs
Captain’s Picks
Isiah Pacheco, RB, Chiefs ($10800)
Pacheco isn’t the most expensive player on the Chiefs, so this won’t break the bank, but he’s solidly consistent as a fantasy producer. He leads the team in rushing yards, and has scored four touchdowns this season. You can bank on Pacheco seeing plenty of action in this matchup.
Devonta Smith, WR, Eagles ($13500)
Like Pacheco, Smith isn’t the most expensive option here, so this could be considered something of a budget pick. Smith isn’t AJ Brown, but he’s still going to put up significant yardage here. Also — Smith has scored receiving touchdowns in each of the Eagles’ last two games, so look for him in the end zone.
FLEX Options
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Chiefs ($4500)
MVS hasn’t been the highest-producing fantasy owner this season, but he’s fairly consistent in getting a few touches — more so than others at this price point are. In the last three weeks, he has added up seven receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Chiefs D/ST, ($5700)
The Chiefs defense and special teams unit averages more fantasy points per game than the Eagles’ does, and yet they’re priced lower than Philadelphia’s D/ST. This could turn into a defensive showdown, so go ahead and take the bargain here.
Players to Avoid
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Eagles ($6600)
Gainwell may have scored a touchdown last week, but his inconsistency as a fantasy performer is something to avoid. He has had fewer than 20 rushing yards in five of his last six games, and he had 22 in the sixth.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, Chiefs ($3000)
Yes, he’s cheap, but don’t budget here with CEH. He has not surpassed 15 rushing yards in any of his last five games, and is not seeing much action, getting three or fewer carries a game.
