Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Dillon Gabriel has suffered an apparent head injury in today’s game against the BYU Cougars. He hit his head on the turf towards the end of the first half and did not come out of the locker room following halftime. Gabriel is considered doubtful to return and freshman Jackson Arnold has taken over in his place.
ESPN reports Dillon Gabriel is injured and unlikely to return, according to OU spokesman.

This is a tough blow for the Sooners, who finds themselves in a tight road contest as they try to keep their Big 12 Championship Game hopes alive with a win. Gabriel was having himself a solid game prior to the injury, going 13-21 for 191 yards and two touchdowns. OU will have to rely on Arnold to carry them through the rest of the way. He’s gone 13-15 for 169 yards and two touchdowns prior to today’s game.
The Sooners currently hold a touchdown lead on the Cougars in the third quarter, so we’ll see if they can hang on in Provo.
