We are heading into Week 8 of the NFL season. It has been a tumultuous season for tight ends, but the year’s biggest surprise remains rookie tight end Sam LaPorta. He is the overall TE4, behind Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews and TJ Hockenson. There are no bye weeks this week, so you should have a fairly normal selection of options for the position. Here is how we are handling the TE position in Week 8 PPR leagues.
Injury news to monitor
Luke Musgrave suffered a lower-body injury during last week’s loss to the Denver Broncos. He was spotted wearing a walking boot after the game and could be a missing piece in the Green Bay Packers’ offense this week against the Minnesota Vikings.
Gerald Everett picked up a quad injury during last week’s game. Brandon Staley did not sound optimistic about the injury, but Everett’s practice participation this week, or lack thereof, will be fairly telling.
The Arizona Cardinals added Zach Ertz to injured reserve this week and will be out for at least four games.
Streaming options for Week 8
With Ertz sidelined, McBride is expected to take over as the starting tight end for Arizona. The Baltimore Ravens are allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, but Joshua Dobbs will need to lean on his tight end for short outlet passes to try and keep the offense in this game.
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson continues to see solid work in the offense. He is worth a start against the Los Angeles Rams defense giving up the fifth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends.
