Best wide receivers to add on fantasy football waiver wire in Week 8 of 2023 NFL season

As Week 7 of the NFL season wraps up, we take a look at some interesting wide receiver options that may be available to claim off the waiver wire. Here are some standouts at the position from the last two weeks who are rostered in less than half of ESPN fantasy leagues.

Fantasy football waiver wire: WR pickups for Week 8

Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs

Rostership: 46.7%

Rice has continued to emerge as the top wide receiver in this Chiefs lineup, week after week. In Week 7, he scored his second touchdown of the last three weeks. He finished the day with 60 receiving yards and had 70 in Week 6. He currently trails only Travis Kelce in receiving yards for the season and has established himself as a top receiving option and a consistent fantasy earner. The Chiefs play the Denver Broncos in Week 8.

Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts

Rostership: 34.5%

Anthony Richardson may be out for the season, but Downs isn’t letting that stop him. In fact, he’s found some good chemistry with Gardner Minshew and has been a standout over the last two weeks. Downs had five receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown, and last week, he had five receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown. The Colts face the New Orleans Saints next week.

Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots

Rostership: 22.5%

The Patriots pulled off an upset over the Buffalo Bills in Week 7, and Kendrick Bourne led the team in both receptions and receiving yards. He finished the day with six receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown. This was his first score of the season, but in Week 6, he had 10 receptions for 89 yards. There is clearly something working between Bourne and Mac Jones. The Pats play the Dolphins in Week 8.

Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers

Rostership: 17.6%

Reed is competing with a talented group of receivers for touches, but he ended today’s loss against the Broncos with 21 receiving yards and a touchdown. The score was somewhat unintentional, as he caught it off a tip, but Reed is still an interesting option to keep in mind if you need a streamer for a WR on a bye. The Packers play the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8.
