With Week 7 in the books, we take a look at some running back fantasy options who may be available to claim off the waiver wire this week. Here are some standouts at the position who are rostered in less than half of ESPN fantasy leagues.
Fantasy football waiver wire: RB pickups for Week 8
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers
Rostership: 46.5%
Hubbard and the Panthers were on a bye in Week 7, but he has been a solid fantasy earner throughout the first six weeks of the season. He and Miles Sanders have been splitting snaps and carries in the backfield, and Hubbard had 19 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown in Week 6. The Panthers face the Texans next week.
D’Onta Foreman, Chicago Bears
Rostership: 42.8%
The Bears’ offense has looked disastrous for much of the season, but things might just be turning around. Chicago put up a huge win over the Raiders in Week 7, and Foreman finished the day with 16 carries for 89 yards and two touchdowns, and three receptions for 31 yards and a third touchdown. The Bears can be expected to keep using Foreman in a high volume after this week — the only question is, can they set him up for success? They face the Chargers next week.
Ezekiel Elliott, New England Patriots
Rostership: 40.3%
Elliott scored for the second week in a row in the Patriots’ upset over the Bills on Sunday. He had 11 carries for 31 yards and a score in Week 7, and while he is still Rhamondre Stevenson on the depth chart, he had more carries than Stevenson this week. Elliott can likely expect to continue to see his role expanded. The Patriots take on the Dolphins next week.
Joshua Kelley, Los Angeles Chargers
Rostership: 20.2%
Kelley had a big week against the Chiefs in Week 7, adding seven carries for 75 yards and a touchdown. This marked Kelley’s second score of the season. He is still getting fewer touches than Austin Ekeler but has been more productive than Ekeler ever since the starter returned from his injury. The Chargers take on the Chicago Bears next week.
