Opening Night of the 2023-24 NBA season will feature a showdown between two title contenders in the Los Angeles Lakers and the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET from Ball Arena, and the game will air on TNT. These two teams last met in the Western Conference Finals, with Denver eliminating Los Angeles in a series sweep.
Below are a few of the best player props to consider for Tuesday night’s game, with odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Anthony Davis over 23.5 points (-120)
The Lakers may have been swept in the Western Conference Finals, but it didn’t mean the Nuggets shut down Davis. The Brow averaged 26.8 PPG in that series while boasting a stellar 49.3 field goal percentage in the process. This contest should be a showdown of the two bigs, and expect Davis to hold up his end of the bargain in this star matchup.
Nikola Jokic over 9.5 assists (+100)
Jamal Murray may be the point guard on the depth chart, but Jokic is the bonafide playmaker of this offense. The reigning Finals MVP averaged 9.8 APG last year and in the Western Conference Finals alone, he was responsible for 11.8 APG. Los Angeles would be wise to keep the ball out of Jokic’s hands, but that should only give more opportunities for him to act as a facilitator.
D’Angelo Russell under 13.5 points (+105)
Davis and LeBron James will lead the way when it comes to propelling the offense, but can we trust Russell’s shot for him to hit the over? The Lakers guard struggled against Denver’s defense in the Western Conference Finals, shooting just 32.3% from the floor. Gabe Vincent’s addition to the backcourt could also create a logjam for minutes, which means Russell’s scoring average could be down this season.
