Update, Oct. 20 — Coach Campbell expects Gibbs to take the bulk of the work at running back coming off his hamstring injury.

Certainly, I think he’s going to need to take the load of (the work),” Campbell said, via NFL.com. “We’re just going to have to see where he’s at. I’d like to say we want to be careful with him, but the reality of it is we need him. We’ll go as far as he can take us here, trying to be as smart as we can, but he’s gotta go. He’s ready, he’s ready.

Update, Oct. 20 — Head coach Dan Campbell expects Gibbs to play in Week 7. We should see Craig Reynolds get some early down duties, but Gibbs should also see an increased workload with David Montgomery out.

Update, Oct. 19 — Gibbs was limited at practice again on Thursday ahead of Week 7 vs. the Ravens. Reynolds was also limited while it still appears Montgomery isn’t going to play this week. If Gibbs can get on the field Sunday, he has a good chance of getting most of the backfield work. Reynolds should mix in as well.

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs was listed as limited in the Lions’ Wednesday walk-through ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Gibbs has been out since Week 4 with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy football implications for Week 7

David Montgomery, the Lions’ starting running back, is expected to miss some time with a rib injury. Gibbs could see an expanded role in the backfield in the coming weeks while Montgomery is sidelined. Gibbs may be on a snap count this week if he’s able to play, depending on where he is in the recovery process, but we can expect him to be the primary rushing option while Montgomery is out.

Gibbs has 179 rushing yards and 70 receiving yards over four games so far this season, and is still looking for his first touchdown. Keep an eye out here for injury updates on Gibbs, but if he is in, Gibbs is going to be a good starting RB for fantasy football with Montgomery out.
