Update: Fields is dealing with a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. It popped back into place, but there is likely damage that an MRI can suss out. This doesn’t sound like a long-term injury, but we’d have to call Fields questionable for Week 7 against the Raiders at this point.
Breaking: Bears QB Justin Fields dislocated his thumb today, popped it back in and he tried to play but was unable to grip ball. X-rays were negative but because of dislocation will need MRI tomorrow to find out full severity of damage @NFLonFOX

Update: Some good news, as Fields didn’t suffer any breaks in his hand. He will get an MRI to see what’s going on. The fact that he couldn’t grip the ball well enough to return is still troubling.
Justin Fields wanted to return but couldn’t properly grip the football, Matt Eberflus said. While X-rays were negative, the Bears will further evaluate his status.

Update: Fields has been ruled out with a throwing hand injury. We should hopefully learn more about the extent of the injury after the game.
Update: Fields is dealing with a throwing hand injury and is officially questionable to return.
Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields has been forced from the game after a third down sack. He is now headed to the locker room and backup Tyson Bagent is warming up. Fields appeared to be favoring his wrist when forced out of the game, but we have nothing official on that as of yet.
The Bears trail the Vikings 12-6 midway through the third quarter. Fields has had a down game compared to his last two, as he has just 58 yards passing, but does have 46 yards on the ground.
Fields had four touchdown passes in each of his last two games against the Broncos and Commanders. Chicago may need to make a decision to keep or move on from Fields if they end up with an early draft pick in 2024.
