The United States has finally gotten on the board against the Netherlands in their group stage match. Lindsey Horan headed in a corner kick to even the match 1-1 in the 62nd minute. It was her second goal of this tournament, her fourth World Cup goal overall, and her 29th international goal.

The goal came shortly after Horan struggled to get up from a challenge by Daniëlle van de Donk. It was a tough hit that seemed worthy of a yellow card, but nothing was called in a match the refs have allowed to get rather physical.

The USA had been stifled throughout the first half of the match. This is a unit that is still looking to gel and so this goal was key to keep things moving in the right direction. A win will all but lock up the group, and a draw keeps them in the driver’s seat to win the group.
