Rashaad Penny fantasy football updates for Week 13

Despite Chris Carson looking like the No. 1 back, Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny still has value. We’re tracking his fantasy performances and news updates throughout the season.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 13?

Penny shattered expectations last week, nearly tying his total rushing yardage through the first 11 weeks (157 yards) with a 129-yard performance in Philly. Lead back Chris Carson’s fumbling woes continued and could have an effect on Penny’s involvement moving forward. Either way, the Seahawks host a tough Vikings team on Monday Night Football, making the Seattle RBs a tough option regardless of usage.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 12?

Following a bye week, Rashaad Penny heads to Philadelphia. Seattle’s backup RB is priced at $4,300, but considering Philly’s strong run defense and Chris Carson’s established lead back role, Penny won’t have any fantasy relevance in this one.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 11?

The Seahawks took down the undefeated 49ers on Monday Night Football, making a statement to the rest of the NFC that they’re to be feared. Chris Carson continues to dominate the back field, leaving Rashaad Penny out to dry. Penny had two rushing attempts in the entire game, one of which he fumbled, resulting in a total of -0.8 DKFP. Seattle heads to its bye week, but rest won’t magically make Penny a viable DFS option.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 10?

Penny rushed for 12 yards on four carries while failing to catch his only target. He finished with 1.2 DKFP. The Seahawks face the 49ers on Monday Night Football and he is not a viable fantasy option in Showdown.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 9?

Guess who made an appearance?! A week after getting no touches against the Ravens, Penny had eight carries for 55 yards in Week 8 against the Falcons. He finished with 5.5 DKFP. It’s not enough to justify starting any time, but it’s a step forward in what has been a disappointing, inconsistent season.

The Seahawks host the Buccaneers in Week 9, and Penny’s price dropped $600 to $4,900. He remains no more than a handcuff as long as Carson is healthy.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 8?

If a running back does not touch the ball and nobody is around to see it, did said running back actually exist?

Penny did appear in the game, playing in two offensive snaps. However, he did not get a carry in the ground game or a target in the passing game. It was a goose egg for him, and it’s hard to see him bouncing back as long as Chris Carson remains healthy. Carson has turned into the Seahawks workhorse back, this week carrying the ball 21 times and catching three of five targets in the passing game.

His DraftKings salary is down to $5,500, and it’s hard to justify playing him while Carson is healthy.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 7?

Rashaad Penny aggravated a hamstring injury the Thursday before the Seahawks’ Week 6 matchup against the Browns and ended up inactive for the game. Penny did not appear on the injury report for Wednesday, but then was added to the report on Thursday due to the hamstring issue. He was listed as questionable and ended up a game-day inactive.

The Seahawks host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, and Penny’s price dropped another $100 to $4,000. The team will return to the practice field on Wednesday, at which point we’ll find out if Penny might be on his way back. When healthy, his DFS value for now is if Chris Carson gets hurt. He had shown some signs of looking like he might eat into Carson’s workload, but Carson is now on a roll.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 6?

Rashaad Penny returned from injury in Week 5, and got a moderate amount of action against the Rams. He rushed six times for 18 yards and caught two passes for 31 yards. He finished with 6.9 DKFP. By comparison, starter Chris Carson rushed 27 times for 118 yards and caught one passes for five yards to finish with 22.3 DKFP. It was his seconds straight performance of more than 21 DKFP.

The Seahawks travel to face Cleveland in Week 6 and Penny’s salary dropped $200 to $4,100. The 49ers ran all over the Browns, so it could bode well for the Seahawks backs. Penny looked good prior to his injury, but after two strong Carson performances, you have to wonder what kind of opportunity Penny will get. He’ll get something, but it’s unlikely for now to be enough to justify lineup inclusion.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 5?

Rashaad Penny was inactive for a second straight week due to his hamstring injury. C.J. Prosise served as Chris Carson’s backup for a second straight week. Carson rushed for a season high 104 yards and added 41 receiving yards. Prosise had four yards and a touchdown on three carries.

The Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5, on a short week with Thursday Night Football. Penny worked his way back into practice and was removed from the final injury report. He will be active, and likely reclaim his backup role from Prosise. Penny struggled in Week 1 with just 18 rushing yards on six attempts, but led the team with 62 yards and a touchdown on ten carries in Week 2. Carson will likely get a chance to build on his strong Week 4, but given the short week and Penny’s freshness, he could see some work. His price dropped $200 to $4,600, but is not a great value until we see what his role is in his return.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 4?

Penny suffered a hamstring injury during the practice week and ended up inactive for the Week 3 matchup with New Orleans. Chris Carson was the primary back with 15 carries for 52 yards, and Russell Wilson added seven rushes for 51 yards. C.J. Prosise managed five yards on four carries.

The Seahawks travel to face the Cardinals, who have struggled on defense. Kyler Murray has brought them back, but the defense has put them in some holes in the first place. Penny’s salary increases $400 to $4,800, but his status is in question. He sat out Wednesday’s practice and then was limited on Thursday. If he can play, he is a tough call for DFS purposes considering Carson is the lead back.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 3?

Chris Carson remains the Seahawks starting running back, but Penny appeared to close the gap a little in the Seahawks 28-26 Week 2 win over the Steelers. Penny finished with 10 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown, while Carson had 15 carries for 60 yards. Carson was in to close out the game, but given Penny only had six carries to Carson’s 15 in Week 1, this is a good sign for fantasy owners.

Penny’s salary increased $700 in Week 3, climbing to $4,400. Seattle hosts a Saints team dealing with Drew Brees’ thumb injury. The decline in offensive production could create more pressure on the defense. That being said, until Penny shows more consistently opposite Carson, he is not someone you can trust in DFS or full season fantasy.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 2?

It’s Chris Carson’s world and Rashaad Penny is just living in it for the time being. Carson got the start and the majority of touches against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, carrying 15 times to Penny’s six. Neither running back was particularly effective, with Carson rushing for 46 yards at 3.1 yards per carry and Penny rushing for 18 yards at three yards per carry.

Penny’s price dropped from $4,900 to $4,000 in Week 2. With a road matchup against a Steelers defense that was pretty tough last season, Penny holds little value in DFS for the time being. You could roll the dice that he breaks out, but this does not seem to be the week to do that.

Rashaad Penny 2019 fantasy football preview

The depth chart in Seattle is very clear at the moment, and Penny is not the benefactor. The Seahawks have been putting a large amount of stock in third-year running back Chris Carson. Now, that’s not to say Penny won’t be getting any action. Seattle loves to utilize its rushers, and that love should only grow this season.

Tyler Lockett is the most obvious threat in the air. Even if DK Metcalf and David Moore get healthy, Russell Wilson still won’t have much to work with in the passing game, forcing him to lean on his running backs a bit more. The Seahawks want to get their rushers (specifically Carson) more involved in the passing game, too.

What does that mean for a first-round draft pick in his second season who starts the campaign as a backup? Well, the potential for big things is there. If something keeps Carson out, even for a game, Penny will likely catapult into a major role. Considering Penny’s yards per carry and per reception were both slightly higher than Carson’s last season, there’s no doubt that he’s capable.

What is Rashaad Penny’s fantasy football status, DFS price for Week 1?

It’s a dream matchup for the Seahawks starting running back. Unfortunately, that’s not Penny’s role. In its season starter and home opener, Seattle is favored to beat up on Cincinnati. The Bengals ranked 22nd against the run last season, and are expected to be at the bottom of the league standings this season.

At $4,900 on DraftKings, Rashaad likely won’t be worth it in a game where Chris Carson is slated for a breakout performance. There is a shot at Penny seeing garbage time, but you should never bank on garbage time.
