The first round of the 3M Open is taking shape at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. The annual tournament comes a week after the 2025 Open Championship, so some of the top golfers aren’t participating.
Scottie Scheffler, who just won the 2025 Open Championship at the Royal Portrush Golf Club, is one of the best players not at this event. Nonetheless, there are excellent golfers taking part in this tournament.
Adam Svensson ($6,600) leads all golfers with 11-under par through the early portion of Round 1 at the 3M Open. He’s posted nine birdies and one eagle to finish the round with a score of 60. He has a two-stroke lead over second place and is valued at $6,600 on the PGA TOUR Showdown $125K Summer Sand Trap [$25K to 1st] (Round 2 TOUR).
Sam Stevens ($7,700) is T2 with 9-under par. Like Svensson, Stevens was dominant through the first 17 holes of the round. His only mistake came on the 18th hole, where he bogeyed a par five. Aside from that, he had 10 birdies on the day.
Thorbjorn Olesen ($7,300) is also T2 at 9-under. Olesen had four birdies on the front nine and five on the back nine, including two three-birdie streaks on Holes 5, 6 and 7, then on Holes 10, 11 and 12. The lone blemish was a bogey on the final hole of the front nine.
Chad Ramey ($6,900) is T4 at 8-under par. The first nine holes were a tad underwhelming for this course, as he had just two birdies and one bogey on seven. His back nine was far more impressive, posting birdies on seven of the nine holes to finish off strong.
Matti Schmid ($7,300) is also T4 at 8-under par. He drained four birdies on both the front and back nines for the unblemished round.
Chris Gotterup ($10,000) is T4 with Ramey and Schmid. He drained three birdies on the front nine, then notched three birdies and an eagle on the back nine, which included a three-hole streak on Holes 11, 12 and 13 consisting of a birdie, eagle and birdie.
Brendan Valdes ($6,300) was the opposite of Ramey in round one. His first nine holes were great, posting seven of nine birdies and two pars. He didn’t earn another birdie in the back nine, however. He posted all pars, finishing round one at 7-under and is T7 heading into Friday.
Jake Knapp ($8,900) is T7 with Valdes. He had three birdies on the front nine and two birdies with an eagle on the back nine.
Chris Kirk ($7,100) is also T7 after Thursday. Kirk had two birdies on the front nine. On the back nine, Kirk birdied the first hole, drained two more, then finished the day with an eagle on the final hole.
Zac Blair was a late add to the field, so he is not in the player pool for DK daily fantasy contests. Blair is the fourth golfer at T7 heading into Friday. Blair drained three birdies on the front nine and four on the back nine.
