The New England Patriots picked up a big upset win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 7. Rhamondre Stevenson hasn’t been able to run away (pun intended) with the starting running back role. Ezekiel Elliott has served as the backup but is starting to force more of a split backfield. In Week 7, Elliott had nine carries for 31 yards and a touchdown compared to nine carries for 34 yards.

Elliott is currently rostered in 40.3% of ESPN leagues. He is starting to get more work as the Patriots make their way down the field, but his biggest impact this week was in the redzone. While Stevenson is usually the team’s redzone back, it was Elliott who got the nod this week, and he punched in a score from two yards out.

The only area in which Stevenson has the edge over Elliott is the passing game. Elliott didn’t bring in his lone target from quarterback Mac Jones. On the other hand, Stevenson brought in all six of his targets for 51 yards. Elliott has more upside in standard leagues but is still worth at least a stash when waivers process this week.
