Scrubs returned last week and continued a strong revival that brought back all of the best elements of the original series, while allowing classic and new characters to learn and grow.
That continues this week as Elliot’s ex-boyfriend — and J.D. rival — Sean re-enters the picture. Is his return a good way for Elliot to jump back into the dating pool? Or would it represent a backslide into old, bad habits?
Here’s what you need to know for Scrubs Season 2, Episode 3 on Wednesday, October 7, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Scrubs Season 2, Episodes 1 and 2 Recap
(Warning: Spoilers ahead.)
- The season premiere episodes saw J.D. and Charlie going strong – despite J.D.’s impulse to go over the top to celebrate. Also seemingly going strong were Asher and Tosh, despite Sibby being hot on the trail of Sacred Heart’s newest couple. In the end, not even her HR-mandated relationship disclosure form was strong enough to tame the power of love.
- Dr. Cox’s illness still was flummoxing J.D. until he began to trust his instincts. That set Cox on the right path to recovery … until he got his bill for J.D.’s treatment. J.D. figured out a loophole — just find an excuse to admit Cox for inpatient treatment — but it may put him at odds with the new chief resident, Dr. Grant Summers, who promptly reported J.D. to Sibby when J.D. asked him to admit Cox. Despite Summers’ jabs and refusal to put his career on the line to bend the rules as well as Cox not wanting J.D. to put himself in danger with the board, Cox is admitted anyway. This feels like a setup for potential danger for J.D. down the line.
- Cox being around also gave him an opportunity to continue to teach his former newbies, as Elliot realizes the mistake she was making in trying to keep Tosh from exploring pediatrics as her specialty. Meanwhile, Dashana gives Turk a taste of his own medicine — she’s the young gun with an ego to match. Despite this, Turk is still going to do everything he can to remind Dashana she still has some things to learn from him — even if he needs to wear his glasses every now and again.
- Even if he’s still teaching his former student, every now and then Cox needs a push in the right direction, especially when it comes to his role reversal going from doctor to patient. Thankfully for him, Carla is the one person who can get him to see the light and face his fears because she’s that damn good at her job and that good of a friend.
