Wednesday afternoon’s game between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox has been delayed due to rain at Rate Field.

First pitch was originally scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET. A new start time was not immediately available.

The delay comes before the finale of a key AL Central series. Chicago enters Wednesday at 41-37 after taking the first two games from Cleveland. The Guardians enter at 41-39 and have dropped three straight.

The White Sox moved into first place Tuesday with a 2-1 win behind Miguel Vargas’ go-ahead solo homer in the sixth inning. Chicago also won Monday’s opener on Sam Antonacci’s walk-off single in the ninth.

Wednesday’s pitching setup already carried some uncertainty before the weather arrived. Tanner Bibee is lined up for Cleveland, while Chris Murphy is expected to open for Chicago before Erick Fedde works in bulk relief.

Weather remains worth monitoring throughout the afternoon. Rain was in the area around the scheduled first pitch, with additional storms possible later in the day.
