UFC 285 features a bantamweight showdown between Cody Garbrandt and Trevin Jones at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight will take place on the preliminary card which will stream on ESPN+ PPV starting at 8 p.m. ET.
Garbrandt (12-5) is reeling, dropping two fights in a row including five of his last six. His last win came in 2020, a knockout against Raphael Assuncao. It’s hard to believe Garbrandt is in this position, considering he started his UFC career with a flawless 6-0 start.
Jones (13-9) is also looking to bounce back and desperately land a win. Jones has dropped three fights in a row, including three of his last four. His last victory came in 2021, a TKO over Mario Bautista.
Garbrandt is favored to win in this bout with -175 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. Jones has +150 underdog odds.
We’ll be providing live updates throughout the fight with round-by-round scoring until a winner is determined.
Cody Garbrandt vs. Trevin Jones round-by-round results
Round 1: Garbrandt 10-9
Neither fighter seems to have got a rhythm here, Garbrandt not really throwing and Jones missing a lot early. Garbrandt being a little too timid here, clearly has the upper hand but taking his time. Timing looking good, but playing it safe. Jones has landed 2/20 significant strikes, that’s not getting the job done.
Round 2: Garbrandt 10-9
Two good takedowns from the former titleholder and we’ve hit the snooze button momentarily. Jones tries for submission attempt, yet Garbrandt avoids it. Jones controller battery must have died, he’s not looking to throw and just mirroring Garbrandt, much of the same for the round.
Round 3: Jones 10-9
Garbrandt looking to take this round off, not throwing many strikes here. Jones getting a good rhythm going and lands his best throws so far in the fight. Garbrandt very tentative and this strategy may make it closer on the cards. Jones lands again, this time a right and now has Garbrandt legit reeling. What a turn around for Jones and if he has this mentality earlier, this one could’ve been a bit more interesting.
