Update 12:25 a.m. The fighters are on their way to the cage, and we’re about to be underway for the main event in Rio!

UFC 283 is headlined by Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill in a light heavyweight title fight from Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 with the main card getting started at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Teixeira will get a shot at the title after Jiri Prochazka vacated it following a shoulder injury that required surgery as the two were slated to fight one another in a rematch from UFC 275 in Singapore. A replacement title match between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz ended in a draw, leaving the title to remain vacated. Teixeira will enter with a 33-8 record and is coming off the loss to Prochazka in June.

Hill will get his first-ever shot at claiming a title and will enter Saturday night with an 11-1 record after three consecutive wins including an August victory over Thiago Santos in four rounds. He is favored to win in this bout with -140 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook.

We’ll be providing live updates throughout the fight with round-by-round scoring until a winner is determined.

Glover Teixeira vs. Jamahal Hill round-by-round results

Round 1: Hill 10-9

Just not a ton of activity from Teixeira, and even though a lot of Hill’s 38 shots didn’t land clean, they were enough activity to steal the round. It was just 13 strikes for the Brazilian, and he was 0/7 in takedowns, but he still seems pretty comfortable in there.

Round 2: Hill 10-9

A tough round to score, as it’s based on how much credit you give Glover for a solid takedown with which he didn’t do much. Hill leads 88-30 on total strikes so far, and Glover has just 1:19 of ground control that wasn’t worth much. We might have a fight here!

Round 3: Hill 10-9

A huge headkick from Hill was the best strike of the bout, and he was maybe just a hammerfist or two away from victory. Really impressive from the short-notice challenger, who leads 133-43 on total strikes, and seems in total control.

Round 4: Hill 10-9

It’s incredible Glover is still able to (barely) intelligently defend himself. And as the broadcast team mentioned, if this wasn’t a title fight it might be over. Hill is simply dominating a former champion in his home country, and Teixeira’s face looks awful and his nose is clearly broken. Jamahal Hill is five minutes from the UFC title at 185 lbs.

Round 5: Hill 10-9

Once Glover put Hill on the mat just 30 seconds into the round, there was indeed a chance. But a full reversal from Hill showed he can do it on the mat just as well as in the standup. Hill is the first Dana White’s Contender Series competitor to win a UFC title. An incredible performance.

Official Scores: Jamahal Hill wins by unanimous decision: 50-44, 50-44, 50-44
