Tale of the Tape for Charles Oliveira vs. Michael Chandler

In the main event title fight at lightweight for UFC 262, Charles Oliveira will take on Michael Chandler Saturday live from Houston, TX and available on ESPN+.

The 31-year-old Oliveira enters the octagon with a professional fighting record of 29-8 (1 NC), and ranked third in the lightweights rankings. The Brazilian mixed martial artist last competed at UFC 256 in December 2020, defeating Tony Ferguson by unanimous decision.

“Do Bronx” Oliveira has won eight consecutive bouts, and will look win with a combination of striking and grappling. He averages 3.22 strikes per minute, with an accuracy of 52 percent. But “do Bronx” absorbs the same amount of strikes at 2.94 per minute and defends against them at 54 percent.

When it comes to grappling, the 31-year-old has an astounding 2.64 takedown average per 15 minutes and 44 percent takedown accuracy. Oliveira boasts a 2.8 submission average per 15 minutes and 57 percent takedown defense. Out of his 29 wins, 63% of them have come by submission.

Chanlder walks into Saturday night’s main event with a professional fighting record of 22-5 and ranked fourth in the lightweight class. “Iron” Chandler made his UFC debut in January at UFC 257, where he defeated Dan Hooker by TKO in Round 1. The 35-year-old has been a force to be reckoned with in Bellator over the last 10 years.
