Update 11:30 p.m. March 6th: It looks like despite plenty of stoppages tonight, the card is a bit behind schedule. We might not see Amanda Nunes or Megan Anderson head to the octagon until at least 11:45 p.m., and possibly as late as 12:05 a.m. depending on how long the Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling fight takes. Both fighters are heading to the octagon via ring entrances now.
Update 6:50 p.m. March 6th: The card appears to be on time thanks to the early preliminaries beginning a bit ahead of schedule because of the 15-fight card. Amanda Nunes is a -910 favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook right now, with Megan Anderson the +575 underdog.
UFC 259 gets underway Saturday evening from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with the early preliminary card beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET, followed by the preliminary card at 8 p.m. on ESPN & ESPN+. That is followed by a trio of title fights highlighting the main card.
The main card for the event is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. and will be available for purchase through ESPN+ PPV. There are five fights on the main card, including Jan Blachowicz and Israel Adesanya in a UFC light heavyweight championship match as the finale. But the co-main event involves the best women’s MMA competitor ever in Amanda Nunes, as she takes on Megan Anderson for the women’s featherweight belt.
The women’s fight is estimated to get going at approximately 11:30 p.m. ET, according to UFC projections. The main card starts at 10 p.m., so it will depend somewhat on how long the first three fights go, plus factoring in any production issues or other reasons for delay. But if this is the only fight you’re here for, figure around 8:30 p.m. on the West Coast.
Before this bout, Petr Yan takes on Aljamain Sterling for the UFC bantamweight title, and that’s scheduled as a five-round fight as well. The main card also includes Islam Makhachev vs. Drew Dober at lightweight, and Thiago Santos taking on Aleksandar Rakic at light heavyweight, and each is scheduled for three five-minute rounds each.
