Two middling middleweights looking to get off the preliminary card face off on Saturday as Andrew Sanchez duels with Wellington Turman at UFC Fight Night live on ESPN+ from Las Vegas.
Sanchez is 11-5 and 4-3 in the UFC, but despite being the more experienced fighter enters as the underdog. The Tristar Gym member from St. Louis had seven career stoppages before joining the promotion, but all four UFC wins are via decision. He lands 4.49 significant strikes a minute and 2.25 takedowns per full match, but also gets hit a lot at 4.92 strikes absorbed.
Turman is 16-3 overall and 1-1 via two decisions in the UFC. The Brazilian is a mat-based specialist that will want to take the fight to the floor, and has six takedowns through his 30 minutes in a UFC cage. The 24-year-old has yet to be stopped in his MMA career, but hasn’t fought since his win over Markus Perez in November of last year.
